Silas Blacklow’s love of knives began as a prep cook, feeding hundreds of campers a day. The pursuit that followed was anything but easy: years working out of a rented barn, then eighteen months living in craftsman Jimmy Diresta’s storage space with no running water. Today, from his own one-man studio in the Finger Lakes, Blacklow fuses damascus steel with gold, silver, and fine hand-carving, reviving craftsmanship the Industrial Revolution left behind.
