"Soul and Obsession. I pour myself completely into every cup of culinary tool tea I forge."

Meet The Makers

Erik Gullikson - Ireland

Erik of Gullikson Knives is, at his core, an explorer—both of material and of meaning. His pursuit of culinary blades is driven by the challenge of achieving uncompromising performance and ergonomics while shaping a narrative through purposeful design. Few rules are sacred beyond function in the hand; everything else is an invitation to discovery.

A professional musician for much of his adult life, Erik brings to bladesmithing the sensibilities of a composer and jazz improviser. With an MA in composition and a deep love for the interplay of structure and spontaneity, he approaches each knife as a fusion of technical precision and creative expression. He values the silence within a design—the space created by restraint—as much as he values the bold, forged textures that transition into silky, polished bevels. In his work, contrast is harmony, and harmony is essential.

This is the lens through which he sees the making of a culinary tool: a deliberate, fluid dance between engineering and storytelling. From first strike to final polish, Erik strives to create knives that not only perform at the highest level, but also inspire the hand—and the imagination—of the cook who guides them.
