Turkish Twist Koa Gyuto 255mm

Long, elegant, and robust in all the right places, yet with laser-like bevel geometry and a wonderfully weighted and balanced lightness in the hand, this gyuto by bladesmith Casey Vilensky is a stunner. At 255mm / 10" overall edge length there is little this hand-forge blade cannot conquer, the spine tapering from the beautifully sculpted integral bolster to a very thin tip, providing a touch of lateral flexibility in the final few inches of material. In Casey's house-made, six-bar mosaic of Turkish Twist carbon damascus steel, the blade's pattern exudes both a feeling of precise order, and a form of organized chaos at once, sure to turn heads which will demand a second, closer look. For grip, first through a spacer of carbon fiber and then through Hawaiian Koa wood, the handle extends back from the bolster of damascus with a nicely shaped mixture of soft curves and flat, faceted edges, tapering steadily for excellent comfort, and showing the through-tang construction with a disc of brass at the rear. Included is a matching Hawaiian Koa saya complete with carbon fiber and brass pin.
