The Art Of Cutlery

The Art of Cutlery, a first-of-its-kind group exhibition featuring modern renditions of humanity's oldest tool, the culinary knife, took place from August 29 to September 7, 2024, in Tribeca, NYC. From the diverse group of guests who attended to the artists' whose world-class work represented five continents, the feedback was overwhelming and inspiring. We're excited to look toward the next iteration. Below are photos, from the opening reception, to the artist's talk, to the extraordinary art itself. Thank you to everyone who helped make this special event such a success.

Knives are humanity's oldest tool, integral to our very survival and evolution as a species. They allow us to procure sustenance, to nourish ourselves and our loved ones, enabling us to break bread with friends and strangers alike, and to grow as a civilization. These are the tools which feed us, the most intimate tools in our lives. Their importance to our way of life can not be overstated, just as the innovation, talent, and contribution to society by those skilled artisans who craft them should not be overlooked. The contemporary renditions of this most ancient tool combine function and art like few objects can, and through the works of these 24+ artists, we think you'll agree that a chef's knife can be not just tool and fine art at once, but a bridge between food, art, design, and history.
