The hand-forged san mai blade in Aogami No.2 with wrought iron cladding by Rob Trimarchi receives a kasumi finish by Lee Chew that produces a stunning and surreal finish that appears to mimic the pattern of a damascus etch. At 255mm with a balance point about an inch in front of the heel this is a workhorse from Rob, stiff and strong yet extremely thin behind the edge and with a distal taper that creates wonderful geometry and versatility. The plum handle is shaped organically, tapered from back to front with a wa-style rendition to the shape. A handmade cherry saya is included.
