A striking and rare bird from California bladesmith Don Carlos Andrade, this 255mm / 10" chef's slicer is forged to shape by hand from a piece of beautifully etched damascus made by famed metal artist Chad Nichols. The weight, balance, and overall geometry are simply superb as expected from Don, and the long, elegant blade includes details such as the step in the spine, a faceted and tapered approach to the needle-like tip, and a rounded, high-polished choil that contrasts the steel pattern wonderfully. Completing the knife's mystical, Atlantis-inspired appearance is a head turning, hand-filling handle of blue-dyed maple, inlaid with rare Westinghouse blue micarta, and secured with a polished steel, brass, and blue mosaic pin. A cloth-covered saya is included.
