If it's time to cook, it's time to boogie. 'Break it down' takes on a new meaning when you hit the cutting board with this
head-turning chef and paring knife set by Detroit artist and bladesmith Niko Nicolaides. Niko employs a uniquely creative vision, three distinct carbon alloys, and many steps of careful forging to achieve a mosaic damascus pattern unlike any we've seen. It's not all shiny lights and four-on-the-floor beats though; Niko is known for his outstanding geometry, balance, and versatile performance in the chef's hand, and these works of functional art deliver on every level. The chef, with its thin, sharp, 177mm / 7" edge beneath thoughtfully shaped freehand convex bevels, its full-distal taper along the rounded spine, and paper-thin tip for detail work and precision slicing, can be any cook's go-to workhorse in kitchens large and small. The parer, with a classically shaped 80mm / 3.2" blade, will excel at handheld work above the board, for peeling, paring, halving, coring, and more. The spine is stiff sans the final stretch as it slims to a razor-thin tip for detail cuts, and the edge is slim throughout. With stepped, heirloom fit where wood meets disco damascus integral bolsters, each handle is sculpted from gorgeous, spalted curly mango wood in a hybrid octagonal form that combines flat facets with Western-inspired contouring and tapers. Comfortable, quick in the hand, and easy on the eyes, the Window Disco Chef's Set will have you feeling light on your feet breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
