Oak I-Beam Spoon

Terry Widner was inspired to carve this intricate spoon from a partially burnt piece of live-oak firewood, capitalizing on the interplay between the unburn lighter sections, and darker burnt areas. These two interwoven sections of the wood react differently to the carving process, which led Terry to create a variety of carved-in lines and shapes throughout the thin, beautifully elongated spoon. Terry’s work is satisfying to the deepest extent, created and presented to the world through the name Spoontaneous.
