Formulated, forged, and honed in-house, the 160mm blade is shaped from Korben's own stainless-clad san mai, the ApexUltra tungsten-carbon steel core delivering a thin, hard, hair-popping edge to the cutting board for all manner of chopping work. Traditionally the vegetable-specific profile of Japanese cutlery, the nakiri has become a fixture in kitchens worldwide for its tall, compact footprint and all-around versatility. In this one-of-a-kind rendition, Bloomfield's compound geometry sees a gently hollowed stretch of primary bevel give way to the convex portion below before culminating at the cutting edge. Hand-sanded to a satin finish with matte grey surfaces through Bloomfield's unique etching process, the symmetrical bevels are contrasted by forge-finished flats and tang bearing the marks of the blade's hand-hammered origins.
